shrunken heads

i've been doing work with recycled jewelry lately; the medium is fun, funky, and green! what more could a girl ask for?
today, i've been experimenting with recyclable clear plastic containers. i've been making pendants and earrings from them... looks a lot cooler than it sounds, by the way... but a word to the wise; clear nail polish WILL NOT make a good clear coat.... it smears all the ink together. i'm very disappointed in this fact... looks like i'll be whipping out the polyeurethane soon...

so much to do, so little time...

i've been feeling so creative lately!
i feel like making jewelry and things... i've been recycling magazines and bottles and things to use for making jewelry. it's pretty cool. hopefully, i'll be able to get some photos posted soon... i have to charge my battery...
i think the next project i work on will be a cuff bracelet made from an old record... it should go great with my electric guitar earrings!

It's beginning to look better!

my project didn't turn out as awesome as i had hoped it would... but i think that's because of the spray paint... it was kind of sloppy, and bled under the paint tape in some parts... but it gives it a kind of cool, hand made look too... so maybe it's ok...
i think it looks really pretty anyways. :)
you can't really tell from the photo, but the curtains are a really beautiful chocolate brown silk.
all said, i think the valance turned out quite well.

Life is a Valancing act...

I am working on a new project!
Bryan and I have purchased our first house, and have been working on getting unpacked and settled in for the last 8 and 1/2 months... What the hell is taking so long!?!? Work is totally cramping my style, and that's all I have to say about that!
Right now, I am working on building and painting a valance for the guest bedroom window... So far, I have managed to build it out of two pieces of wood and am working on spray painting it. The base coat is satin finish almond, and it will have randomly sized stripes of glossy leather brown and satin periwinkle and avocado... I have already masked it off, and am waiting for the leather brown to dry so I can slap on a second coat, and get started on the other colors... Since it's spray paint, I hope it won't take long to dry... I'm quite excited to get the masking tape off and get it hung to see how it looks with my brown silk curtains.
I've been in a real rush to get that guest room situated because I think my favorite aunt is visiting in August! (Whitewater rafting trip, anyone?) And I would like to have it comfortable and decorated before she arrives. (In case I haven't mentioned it, we're getting married in August!!!)
Unfortunately, my timetable got pushed behind due to an illness I had last month, but now I'm back and better than ever!
Will post photos of the valance and the room as soon as I've had the opportunity to complete it!
